the Baby Boom
Generation evolution continues....
I first got interested in the Wii Fit to supplement my workout routine during the winter, when I was less inclined to head outside. With the variety available, it seemed like a good choice. There are four basic areas to choose from:
Yoga - Yoga poses that help tone muscles and improve posture.Strength Training - Workouts to help build and tone your muscles.Balance Games - Games that help develop your sense of balance.Aerobics - Exercises that help you burn yourWii Fit comes with a balance board, which is the only additional accessory you will need. You start out by choosing your Mii from the plaza, and when you first start, Wii Fit will do a Body Test, which weighs you, measures your BMI (body mass index), tests your balance and control, and gives you a "Wii Fit Age" based on the test. Your Mii will represent your current weight, so it will loose weight as you do.
You can set goals, and deadlines for your goals, track your statistics on the calendar, and watch your progress on graphs. While the first time it's kind of cute to hear what the game says, after a few times it can be a little repetitive, but it's a pretty short assessment and you can get to your games quickly.
Yoga is a good basic introduction, if you haven't done this before, there are trainers who demonstrate the moves and encourage you along the way. I'm pretty new to Yoga, so I can't say if it is challenging enough for those who are old hands at the practice, but I find some of the moves very difficult. More moves will be "unlocked" as you progress.
Strength Training also has trainers showing you the moves, and you just follow along as you are able. You can start out with no additional weights, and add them as you improve. Again, more exercises will be "unlocked" as you progress.
Balance Games is perhaps the heart the of this game. Some are fun, some are silly, some are more challenging than others but they all get you moving and perhaps laughing! You can play Soccer, Ski Slolam, Ski Jump, Table Tilt to start, and more are unlocked as you progress, such as Tight Rope, and Penguin Slide (very cute, fun, and silly!)
Aerobics will challenge you with Hula Hoop, Step, and and Island Run, and again you unlock more as you go along.
All the games will keep you up and on your feet, thinking your way through the game, and challenging you to improve every time you log on. Very good overall, and you get a few laughs along the way.
